DUCATI Superbike 999S 998 (2003 - 2006) Description & History: Designed by Pierre Terblanche, the 999 was born in 2003, taking the place of the 916 and the 998. Both versions of the bike, the 999S and the 999R have a traditional Ducati L Twin Desmodromic Valve actuated engine layout which could reach 100km/h in three seconds and a top speed of over 170 mph.
The Superbike 999S features a powerful Testastretta engine that delivers 143 hp and a Corse-derived low sump crankcase for consistent oil feed even during full race conditions.
